Home Server & Projects
Spent a good amount of time recently, building my very own first homeserver. It's an old Optiplex but pretty powerful. Part of my goal for next year is lowering costs, but at the same time learning new stuff about linux, networking and such. With this opportunity, I've decided to self host this website as well! I've also done some more improvements when it comes to size and performance while still keeping it JS free! Next year I want to avoid any subscriptions, mainly because subscriptions offer you a very well crafted out of the box experience, however setting up a similar experience requires various levels of learning and work.
I am also still developing a very interesting software solution for the Royal British Navy of Sea of Thieves, a mil-sim community I'm actively involved with. The website is in production now, and has had a good impact on the experience of the community (or so I've been told).
For 2026, I have a few interesting projects in mind which I plan to get out. I will announce them once they come out, but in general they are decently small. One is about animals <3.
On AI
This past couple of years I've been using AI quite intensively, surely a bit too much. I plan on significantly lowering my AI usage in order to clear some of the brain rust I aquired. I think with a good amount of dicipline, LLMs might be helpful, however I still have work to do on the discipline part :).
*NOTE: Those sentences have been written without AI or grammar checks so... this is my level :)
